The Cause of Plantar Fasciitis can be anything that causes stress and strain of the plantar fascia.
This injury can be triggered by;
- tight calf muscles
- flat or high arches
- foot instability/wrong shoes
- an increase in bodyweight
- increase in activity/exercise
- overstretching
- age
- feels like a stone bruise under heel
- sharp pain under the heel first thing in the morning
- feels worse after standing or sitting for long periods of time
- heel spurs – inflammation and irritation causes pain
Treatment is determined by cause, the inability to heal, if there are any plantar fascial tears and how long the injury has been present
- deep tissue massage
- change to correct footwear/orthotics
- strapping/taping
- stretches
